My name is Bailey M. Oliver Blackburn (PhD, 2018) and I currently serve as graduate coordinator and associate professor in the Department of Applied Communication at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. As an undergraduate, I studied at the University of Alabama and earned a B.A. in Communication with a focus in Telecommunication & Film. I stayed at UA to pursue my master’s degree in Communication Studies, where I became heavily interested in studying relational conflict and conflict transformation. I took this desire to provide practical outcomes for relational partners and families to Arizona State University where I received a PhD in Human Communication. Since earning my doctorate, I have published across multiple communication and family studies journals, been featured on national podcasts and NPR, and consulted with dozens of nonprofit, government, and private organizations to improve their leadership and organizational outcomes. Through my research and facilitations I hope to help partners, families, and organizations in times of transition where conflict is likely to occur, and ultimately uncover ways to manage such tension to best promote positive and resilient relationships.
